Wearing a colorful apron, our young guest started from the very first step,
mixing flour and water together with his mom and dad in a big mixing bowl.
As the dry flour absorbed the water and gradually turned into a crumbly, sand-like dough,
smiles naturally spread across everyone’s faces.
When it was time to step on the dough, he took the lead,
carefully stomping on the dough under a plastic sheet while his mother watched and supported him.
With each step, the udon dough became smoother and more elastic.
After the dough was cut into noodles, he picked up his own “my-udon” and happily checked how long his handmade noodles had become.
In the same class, another family joined us –
a girl in a blue apron working side by side with her mother.
With her mother’s hands gently guiding the knife,
she practiced cutting the dough into noodles, and by the end she was confidently cutting them on her own with a steady rhythm.
At Iricosky Udon Making Experience Class,
parents and children can share the work – mixing flour and water, stepping on the dough, rolling it out, and cutting the noodles –
and enjoy the whole udon-making process together.
Both kids and adults are welcome to join at their own pace and enjoy the moment of “I did it!” around the table.
