We had a wonderful variety of guests today, ranging from families with adult children to energetic youngsters. The family with grown-up members looked fantastic in their matching aprons, showing off their freshly made “Red Udon” with bright smiles. These festive pink noodles, made with Beni-koji, are a beloved tradition for the year-end and New Year season.
Meanwhile, the younger children were very busy too! We saw sisters working together, leaning into the rolling pins to stretch the dough with all their might. At times, there was even some lively competition over whose turn it was to use the tools. Their serious focus on the dough and their adorable expressions for the camera were truly memorable.
Regardless of age, the process of mixing flour and water to make dough and shaping it into noodles together at the same table creates special family memories.
